1. Information we collect

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, company name and company website, your job title if you choose to give it, and a password (stored encrypted, never in plain text). If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe, a third‑party payment provider — we do not store your card details ourselves.

We also keep what you send us: your newsletter subscription if you sign up for it, the messages and support requests you send, enquiries you send to service providers, and reviews you write.

And we keep a record of how our checking tools and our API are used, including the IP address they are used from. Section 5 sets out exactly what that record contains and when it is deleted.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to provide and maintain your account, process payments, respond to support requests, and send you service‑related communications. We also use it to keep the platform secure and fair, for example by limiting how many checks an account can run and by detecting misuse. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your session. They are needed for the site to work. We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used; it sets its own cookies and sends usage information to Google. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the essential cookies, you will not be able to log in.

4. Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us.

Records of checks, lookups and API calls, saved verification results, and the log of actions taken by our staff on the platform are deleted automatically once they are 12 months old. A scheduled job removes them every night, and we do not keep them longer.

5. Contact checks, lookups and the API

Signed‑in users can check whether an email address, phone number, website or company registry number belongs to a company on ExporterIQ. They can do this on a company’s page, in our Check a contact tool, and through our API.

When you run a check or a lookup, or make an API call, we record:

• the detail you entered, and the result we gave you;
• your account and, for API calls, the access token used;
• the time, and the IP address it was made from;
• for saved API results, the full result, so that you can retrieve it later with its reference.

We keep these records to run the service, to give you a reference you can retrieve, to apply usage limits, and to detect and prevent misuse and fraud. Only you can see your own saved checks and lookups. Our staff can access the records to support you and to investigate misuse.

The details you enter are usually business contact details that someone gave you. We answer only with an exact match for a company on the platform, never with a list of near matches, and we do not use what you enter to build profiles of the people behind it.

We delete these records 12 months after they are made.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

7. Company data on the platform

Separately from account data, ExporterIQ publishes company and trade information sourced from public filings, trade documentation, and other verifiable sources for due diligence purposes. Our directory covers registered companies. It includes the names of directors and owners where they appear in official company registers.
